Mckenna Grace Boards 'Scream 7' As New Chapter Takes Shape
McKenna Grace, fresh off ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,’ joins ‘Scream 7,’ expanding her rising Hollywood profile.
American actress and singer McKenna Grace, who recently starred in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, just joined the latest installment of the Scream franchise, Scream 7, Deadline reports.
Last month, Isabel May was in talks to join the cast as Neve Campbell’s daughter—a casting now confirmed—along with the additions of Celeste O’Connor and Asa Germann. Neve Campbell is confirmed to return as Sidney Prescott, and although Courteney Cox hinted at her own comeback, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
The movie will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first film in 1996, as well as its 1997 sequel, Scream 2, and, 14 years later, Scream 4 in 2011. This time, the story comes from Guy Busick, who co-wrote the 2022 Scream and Scream 6 with James Vanderbilt.
Previously, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera were both attached to the project, but Ortega left due to scheduling conflicts with Wednesday and related financial disputes. Meanwhile, Melissa Barrera was fired due to social media posts criticizing Israeli policies, which the producers deemed antisemitic. Barrera recently opened up about the firing, saying she felt like her “life was over.”
Beyond Scream 7, McKenna Grace has several projects lined up. Next year, she’ll appear in the sequel to Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk. While she has completed work on Nobody 2, Spider & Jesse, and Anniversary, she remains busy filming the satirical drama Slanted. Her performance in this year’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire earned her a Saturn Award nomination for Best Younger Performer in a Film.
Though still in pre-production, Scream 7 already has a release date set for February 27, 2026.
