Jack Quaid’s new action thriller ‘Novocaine’ trailer drops: a pain-free hero races to save his girlfriend.

American actor Jack Quaid, known for playing Hughie Campbell in the superhero series The Boys, has an upcoming action thriller, Novocaine, set for release next year. To shorten the wait, the first trailer has just been unveiled!

Novocaine follows Nathan Caine (portrayed by Quaid), an introverted man with a rare genetic disorder called CIP (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain), meaning he cannot feel pain. After his girlfriend (Amber Midthunder) is taken hostage during a bank robbery, Nathan immediately sets out to rescue her, using his condition to his advantage.

The trailer shows Nathan wasting no time in pursuing his girlfriend’s kidnappers—he even goes as far as stealing a police car in his relentless chase. What follows is an onslaught of action-packed and darkly comic moments, such as Nathan plunging his hand into a boiling fryer to retrieve a gun, or catching a knife with his bare palm, only to have it punctured.

In October 2023, Quaid joined the film. Dan Berk and Robert Olsen signed on as directors, with Lars Jacobson penning the script. In February of this year, Amber Midthunder joined the cast as Paramount Pictures acquired the rights. The following month, Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, and Matt Walsh also joined the production in undisclosed roles.

Besides Novocaine, Quaid will star in the psychological thriller Companion opposite Sophie Thatcher. In this film, he portrays Josh, a charming lunatic who seemingly holds Iris (Thatcher) captive and feeds her. The trailer, released in October, hints at Iris gradually unraveling as unexpected chemistry begins to form between the two.

Novocaine is scheduled for release on March 14, 2025. Are you going to watch it?
