Isabela Merced Wants to Make Hawkgirl Unforgettable in 'Superman'

Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl in the upcoming Superman movie, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. She can’t wait for everyone to see the film and start calling her Hawkgirl!

While speaking to Collider, Merced shared that she would feel honored if people recognized her for the role without needing to know her real name. Another reason she would love it is that “Hawkgirl” sounds like “hot girl”, which Merced is completely okay with.

The film’s director, James Gunn, recently answered a fan’s question about whether Hawkgirl’s wings in Superman will be organic or mechanical, confirming that they will be organic. This is great news for fans of the comic books, where Hawkgirl is depicted as an extraterrestrial being.

In addition to Merced and Corenswet, Superman features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern.

Superman premieres on July 11, 2025.
