Ella Purnell Actually Smashed a Sound Booth While Voicing Jinx in 'Arcane'
Ella Purnell shares wild recording stories, Jinx’s hero doubts, and Vi vs. Jinx insights in the latest ‘Arcane Afterglow’ Q&A session!
The voice actress behind Jinx in the series Arcane, Ella Purnell, is giving her voice performance absolutely everything—even smashing a sound booth!
During the latest Arcane Afterglow Q&A, she was asked by her co-star Reed Shannon, who voices Ekko in the series, how she brings her epic fight scenes to life. The series’ co-producer, Christian Linke, jumped in, describing it as “destruction of the vocal booths.”
Purnell admitted to acting “like a crazy person” when recording her lines. This includes karate-chop movements and making various sounds that spontaneously come to her mind. It seems she’s going all out to get into character, even though she’s only voicing it.
She was also asked whether Jinx has already embraced the idea of becoming a leader. Purnell replied that she doesn’t think so and is unsure whether Jinx has truly accepted that responsibility. She added that Jinx might later begin to see herself as a leader, but there’s still a small voice in the back of her head, doubting.
The last question she answered was whether she thinks Jinx could beat Vi in a fight without weapons. Without any of Jinx’s tools, Purnell admitted that Vi would most likely win since she’s buff and has been to prison. However, she noted that Jinx could run “really fast,” as Purnell humorously put it.
The second season of Arcane is set to be its final one, but no worries—three new spin-off series are already in the works at Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates!
