Amidst Simmons’ public disavowal of the film, Shore emphasized his deep respect and admiration for Simmons, aiming to pay homage to his legacy.

At the Sundance Film Festival, Shore revealed a personal connection to Simmons, citing similarities in their solitary lifestyles and estranged family relationships. “We don’t want to bug him.” Shore said. “We want him to be left alone and we don’t want to bug him. We want to pay homage to him and kiss his feet and say he’s done beautiful stuff.”
