Joe Keery releases third Djo album ‘The Crux’, blending indie rock and live instrumentation in a fresh sonic direction.

The wait for Joe Keery’s third studio album The Crux, released under his moniker Djo, is finally over! Following the release of three singles, the 12-track project marks a departure from his previous sound, embracing live instrumentation and indie rock influences.

Drawing inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and Harry Nilsson, Keery wrote all the tracks on the album himself—except for Lonesome State of Mind, Delete Ya, and Egg, which were co-written with Adam Thein.

Keery’s Stranger Things co-star Charlie Heaton appears on the track Charlie’s Garden, while his four sisters provide harmonies on Back On You. He also invited his former Post Animal bandmates to perform on that track.

Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, the album features live guitars, piano, Mellotron, vibraphone, saxophone, trumpet, and more—many of them played by Keery himself.

To support The Crux, Keery kicked off his mostly sold-out Back On You World Tour, which began in Portland, Oregon, and will conclude on June 25 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
