Emmy Russell's Star Continues to Rise on 'American Idol'
Thanks to her vocal performance, Emmy Russell has advanced to the next round of the 22nd season of “American Idol.”
On Sunday, April 28th, another round of “American Idol” took place, during which contestants performed a song from the year they were born. Emmy Russell, born in 1999 in Nashville, sang “All the Small Things” by Blink-182, which was featured on their third album titled “Enema of the State.” Although she appeared a bit nervous, judges of the competition, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, praised her. Perry said that her voice sounded the most solid it has been since they started listening to her during the competition.
Emmy Russell is the granddaughter of the late Loretta Lynn (1932—2022), in whose presence she grew up. During her participation in ‘American Idol,’ she described herself as a bit shy and trying to find her own path. She is increasingly succeeding in this endeavor, as she captivated both judges and the audience not only with her singing but also with her own songs “skinny” and “Want You” in previous rounds, earning her a spot among the top 8 contestants on Sunday.
