Why FKA Twigs, Anitta, and Massive Attack Pulled Out of Coachella 2025

Coachella 2025 is scheduled for April 11-13 and April 18-20 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, with headliners Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott, plus acts like Charli XCX, Missy Elliott, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Several artists have withdrawn from the lineup due to various issues. This article outlines who dropped out, why, and how the festival adjusted.

For instance, Anitta announced her withdrawal on March 20, 2025, citing “unexpected personal reasons” in a social media post. She didn’t specify further but thanked Coachella for their support and expressed hope to perform there later.

In the meantime, FKA Twigs canceled her Friday performances and April North American tour on April 4, due to visa issues after her team failed to file paperwork on time.

Bizzarly, Massive Attack declined an invitation to perform, stating in December 2024 that Coachella’s carbon footprint conflicted with their environmental stance.

In response, Coachella added Ed Sheeran and Weezer to the lineup on April 5, 2025. Weezer will perform on Saturday, April 12, during Weekend 1 at the Mojave Tent from 3:10 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. Ed Sheeran will perform on Saturday, April 19, during Weekend 2 at the same stage from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., following the release of his single Azizam from his upcoming album Play. These additions replace Anitta and FKA Twigs.

The festival has faced dropouts before, like Frank Ocean in 2023 and Tyla in 2024 due to injury. Despite the changes, Coachella 2025 retains its core lineup, including Lady Gaga, Travis Scott with a curated setup, and acts like GloRilla and Rema.
