Aimee Lou Wood Calls Out 'SNL' Over Mocking Her Teeth and Accent in Sketch

Aimee Lou Wood criticized ‘Saturday Night Live’ for mocking her appearance in a sketch, calling it mean-spirited and outdated.
English actress Aimee Lou Wood, known for her role in The White Lotus, called out Saturday Night Live for a sketch that mocked her appearance. The skit featured a character based on her, played with fake teeth and an exaggerated accent.
Wood said the joke targeted her in a way that felt mean rather than funny, and criticized it for focusing on her gap teeth. She pointed out that the rest of the sketch made fun of powerful figures, while her character was the only one being mocked for looks.
She added that she’s okay with being parodied, but expects it to be done with more thought. While she didn’t blame the performer, Sarah Sherman, she questioned the choice to focus the joke on her appearance.
After sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Wood said she received apologies from SNL and support from fans. She also raised the issue of how women’s looks are still over-scrutinized in the media.
