Victoria Pedretti Just Landed a Role in a Film Inspired by a Literary Classic
Victoria Pedretti joins Alicia Vikander in Rachel Rose’s debut film ‘The Last Day,’ inspired by Virginia Woolf’s ‘Mrs. Dalloway.’
Rising actress Victoria Pedretti, known for her roles in The Haunting of Hill House and You, is among the actors joining Rachel Rose’s debut film The Last Day, Variety reports.
The official description of the film is as follows:
“On a July 4th in New York, Julia, a writer and mother, encounters figures from her past and a troubled young mother, prompting her to confront her lack of creative purpose and rediscover herself within the life she has.”
The film is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s 1925 novel Mrs. Dalloway.
Leading the cast with Pedretti is Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander, best known for her roles in Ex Machina and The Danish Girl. Vikander most recently appeared in the black comedy Rumours with Cate Blanchett, which was released last month, and her sci-fi thriller The Assessment, co-starring Elizabeth Olsen, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews. She also has another sci-fi thriller in post-production titled Hope, with Zo In-sung, Michael Fassbender, and Taylor Russell, among others.
Pedretti is currently working on If She Burns, a movie written and directed by Alex Wolff. Earlier this year, she appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in the thriller Ponyboi alongside River Gallo (who wrote the screenplay) and Dylan O’Brien. She also expanded her portfolio with two short films this year—Fall Risk and Merci, Poppy.
Besides her on-screen work, Pedretti will also headline an off-Broadway production of Tender Play by Philip Ridley. It seems she has taken a liking to theater, after making her Broadway debut in Enemy of the People earlier this year.
Filming for The Last Day wrapped earlier last month, but there is no release date yet. If we’re lucky, we might get to see it before 2025 ends!
