Tom Blyth to Play Key Role in Claire Denis' 'The Cry of the Guards'
English actor Tom Blyth joins Claire Denis’ drama ‘The Cry of the Guards,’ based on Koltès’ ‘Black Battles with Dogs.’
The English actor Tom Blyth, best known for playing Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and Billy in Billy the Kid, has just landed another role! This time, the actor joins Claire Denis’ new drama film The Cry of the Guards.
The Cry of the Guards is a story based on Bernard-Marie Koltès’ play Black Battles with Dogs. The play is set in an abandoned house in a war-torn landscape and revolves around a young man named Prodigal, who returns home during a war, only to get into a brutal showdown with a soldier who tries to dominate and overpower him. They argue, fight, and, during the confrontation, reveal their deepest emotions about survival, betrayal, and the harsh reality of the world.
Deadline reports that he is joining Mia McKenna-Bruce, Matt Dillon, and Isaach De Bankolé. It remains unclear who will play whom, but the cast now seems to be complete, as there are only four characters in the play: The Prodigal, The Soldier, The Woman, and The Third Man.
Tom Blyth recently wrapped filming the romantic thriller Plainclothes with Russell Tovey, which will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Currently, he also has three films in post-production: the comedy Bull Run with Chris Diamantopoulos and Helena Mattsson, the video game adaptation Watch Dogs with Sophie Wilde and Markella Kavenagh, and the thriller Wasteman with David Jonsson and Neil Linpow.
