TV shows are making a splash at SXSW 2025, with big premieres from Seth Rogen, Dennis Quaid, and more. Here’s what to watch!

Besides some huge movie premieres happening at the 2025 South by Southwest festival, there are also a few TV shows that will be shown to the public for the first time. From Seth Rogen’s new comedy series to a true crime series starring Dennis Quaid, here’s a list of all TV shows premiering at this year’s SXSW.

#1 Happy Family USA

#1 Happy Family USA is a new animated comedy created by Ramy Youssef and Pam Brady, premiering on Amazon Prime Video on April 17, 2025. Set in the early 2000s, it follows the Hussein family, a Muslim-American household trying way too hard to be seen as the most patriotic and peaceful family in town—while their paranoid neighbors watch their every move. Government Cheese

Government Cheese is a new comedy-drama series premiering on Apple TV+ on April 16, 2025. Set in 1969 California, it follows Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo), an ex-con trying to rebuild his life and reconnect with his family. But after years away, he struggles to fit back in, especially as his wife (Simone Missick) and kids have moved on without him.

Happy Face

Happy Face is a new true-crime drama premiering on Paramount+ on March 20, 2025. It’s based on the real story of Melissa Moore, who was just 15 years old when she found out her dad was Keith Hunter Jesperson, the infamous “Happy Face Killer.” He got the nickname because he signed his letters to the media with a smiley face. Dennis Quaid stars as Jesperson, with Annaleigh Ashford playing Melissa.

Spy High

Spy High is a new documentary series coming to Amazon Prime Video in March 2025. It follows 15-year-old Blake Robbins, who finds out his school secretly put surveillance software on his laptop. When he’s wrongly accused of drug dealing based on photos taken in his own bedroom, his family sues the school, leading to an FBI investigation and a national debate about student privacy. Leading the cast are Paige Bardhoshi, Bill Bender, and Mark Haltzman.

The Studio

The Studio is a new comedy series premiering on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025. Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the new boss of a struggling Hollywood studio, trying to save it while dealing with chaos from artists, executives, and his own self-doubt. Created by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the show features a star-studded cast, including Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Ike Barinholtz, plus surprise celebrity cameos like Martin Scorsese and Charlize Theron.

The Yogurt Shop Murders

The Yogurt Shop Murders is a new documentary series coming to HBO. It tells the story of the 1991 murder of four teenage girls at an “I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt!” shop in Austin, Texas. The series explores the heartbreaking impact on their families and the long, complicated investigation that still hasn’t been fully solved. Directed by Margaret Brown, the show will premiere at SXSW on March 10, 2025, before its official release.
