Just days ago, rising star fashion designer Christopher Esber has announced the opening of the brand’s first residency retail store at The Strand Arcade in Sydney.
The store will be open until March 2025.
The Australian designer is rapidly establishing himself as a formidable talent in the fashion world. After graduating from Sydney’s Fashion Design Studio in 2008, Esber launched his eponymous brand in 2010, capturing industry attention with his innovative approach.
His designs are characterized by a unique blend of structured silhouettes and fluid draping. Drawing from his background in tailoring, Esber employs negative space and sculptural hardware to craft silhouettes that evoke feelings of escapism and sensuality.
Esber’s commitment to craftsmanship is evident in his collaboration with skilled artisans across France, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain and his dedication to quality and creativity has not gone unnoticed; Esber made his New York Fashion Week debut in 2012 and received the L’Oreal National Designer Award, marking the beginning of a series of accolades that would follow.
In 2014, he won the regional Woolmark Prize and was celebrated by Vogue Italia as Australia-Pacific’s Most Talented Designer. The pinnacle of his achievements came in September 2023 when he was invited to debut at Paris Fashion Week.
Most recently, Esber was honored with the Designer of the Year award at the Australian Fashion Laureate, followed by the prestigious Grand Prix Prize at the ANDAM Awards in June 2024, making him the first Australian to receive this accolade.
The designer is also close friends with some of fashion’s icons, including Kelly Rutherford, whom he dressed for the celebration of The Business of Fashion 500, the definitive index of the people shaping the global fashion industry, in September.
