The actress spoke to Vogue Mexico, sharing that she feels the criticism of the new adaptation stems from fans’ “passion” for the original movie. It’s not the first time a live-action Disney film has faced backlash, but Snow White has been especially controversial.

Zegler’s Colombian heritage was one of the reasons behind the criticism, and her opinions on the original only intensified the public reaction. She called the 1937 classic “dated” and said the prince was “literally stalking” Snow White.

Now, Zegler believes that those criticizing the movie are simply being overprotective of the original. She is brushing off the negativity, saying that haters need to be loved “in the right direction.”

Even though the film’s trailers garnered millions of views on YouTube, they also faced significant backlash, with an overwhelming number of people hitting the dislike button. The comments under the trailers are far from flattering.

Snow White premieres on March 21, 2025.
