The first day of Milan Fashion Week already brought some very interesting collections from up and coming designers. Let’s put a spotlight on the first one - Qasimi.

With their debut runway presentation at Milan Fashion Week, Qasimi’s FW25 collection featured a compelling collaboration with renowned Māori artist Emily Karaka.

Drawing inspiration from Karaka’s artworks, which delve into themes of land rights, ancestral connections, and resilience, the collection showcases bold prints, intricate embroideries, and transformative silhouettes.

According to the designer, the main inspiration behind the collection was a specific painting from 2015 carrying social messages, such as “My language is my strength” or “I am a warrior.”

This line powerfully reflects the struggles and solidarity of indigenous communities across the globe. During the first day of the fashion week, the Qasimi team discussed how Karaka’s art informs the texture and color palette of the collection, emphasizing themes of resistance and transformation that resonate deeply within the designs.
