English actress Mia McKenna-Bruce joins Letitia Wright and Will Sharpe on the BAFTA EE Rising Star jury panel for 2025!
English actress Mia McKenna-Bruce is joining the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award jury panel, alongside Letitia Wright and Will Sharpe, to decide the nominees!
Two of the mentioned actors are past winners of the Rising Star Award: McKenna-Bruce won it this year, while Letitia Wright won in 2018. Will Sharpe, on the other hand, won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2020 for his role in Giri/Haji.
The shortlist of nominees will be available on January 7, and voting by the British public will open at ee.co.uk/BAFTA. The nominations themselves will be revealed on January 15, and the winners will be announced on February 16.
In an interview with EE, McKenna-Bruce shared her thoughts on the special opportunity:
“Winning the 2024 EE Rising Star Award was an incredible honour, and to have my work recognised amongst such a talented group of actors meant so much. I’m very grateful to everyone who voted for me. Now, being part of the 2025 judging panel is a privilege, and I feel lucky to be able to play a role in celebrating the next wave of brilliant creatives.”
The EE Rising Star Award was created to honour the late Mary Selway, who passed away in 2004. She was a highly successful casting director who helped many new actors and actresses achieve fame. The first actor to win the award was James McAvoy in 2006.
But the winners aren’t always British! There have been exceptions—Eva Green, Shia LaBeouf, and Kristen Stewart all won the award despite being non-British. So who knows what this upcoming list of nominees will bring? Stay tuned for more updates!
