Rachel Zegler’s defense amid the Snow White controversy, as Zegler faces severe backlash over the film’s poor box office performance.
Zegler was criticized for expressing support for Palestine on social media, which led many to boycott the project. She was even told to delete the tweet but refused. This reportedly caused tension on the Snow White set, where Zegler’s co-star 
Gal Gadot was a vocal supporter of Israel.
Barrera took to her Instagram Story to share a post calling out Variety for publishing what she described as a “hit piece” on Zegler. The article portrayed Zegler as “difficult and politically radical,” but Barrera argued it actually made her seem “cool as hell and full of integrity.”
Barrera herself faced similar controversy for being outspoken about her political views, particularly after criticizing Israeli policies. That ultimately led to her being dropped from the Scream franchise, and Barrera described that time as “the darkest and hardest year” of her life.
