Lil Skies Drops New Single High Maintenance
Lil Skies has kicked off 2025 with the release of his new single, High Maintenance. But the question remains: is this the rapper’s big comeback?
High Maintenance was co-written and produced by Zerby, marking a fresh chapter in Lil Skies’ musical journey in 2025.
Since the release of his most influential album, Life of a Dark Rose, we must admit that streaming traffic has declined significantly for the young rapper.
Understandably, it’s hard to surpass over 600 million Spotify streams for a single track like Lust.
The new single is undoubtedly a continuation of Lil Skies’ music legacy – trap music made for the masses.
The new single is definitely a continiuation of Lil Skies sound legacy – trap music made for masses.
The accompanying music video, however, leaves much to be desired. Filmed mostly in a tiny room full of Japanese trinkets, it feels uninspired. We get it, though – it’s a commercial product aimed at manga-obsessed teenagers.
The new single sounds solid but lacks creativity and fails to deliver a “wow” factor. If Lil Skies wants to make a comeback on Billboard’s Top 100 charts, he needs to create something dramatically different.
