Kaitlyn Dever Gets Candid About the Personal Connection She Has to 'Apple Cider Vinegar'

Kaitlyn Dever opens up about portraying Belle Gibson in Apple Cider Vinegar, her accent prep, and the role’s personal impact.
American actress Kaitlyn Dever, who recently starred in the Australian drama series Apple Cider Vinegar as wellness guru Belle Gibson, recently opened up about how she prepared for the role, as well as her personal connection to the series.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dever shared that, in order to perfect her Australian accent, she worked with dialect coach Jenny Kent to create a new version of Gibson’s voice.
She also studied the limited available footage of Gibson but didn’t aim for a perfect imitation. However, she was thorough in tracking Belle’s emotions across different timelines, using a spreadsheet to keep track.
Dever also opened up about her mother, who passed away from breast cancer, making the show’s themes deeply personal. Before her passing, Dever’s mother read the script and supported her decision to take the role.
Besides Dever, the series features Alycia Debnam-Carey as Milla Blake,
Aisha Dee as Chanelle,
Tilda Cobham-Hervey as Lucy, and
Mark Coles Smith as Justin Guthrie, among others.
Apple Cider Vinegar is out now on Netflix.
