The musicians’ press release stated that the song centers on trying to overcome and heal from the guilt, shame, and religious abuse that so many people experience while discovering their identity and growing up Queer.

Tuesday is a heartbreaking story of two girls who couldn’t make it as lovers because of societal pressure, specifically coming from one girl’s mother and Jesus Christ himself.

The juxtaposition of Christ, country life, and queer relationships makes this song so special. The whole album positions itself as country music yet talks about things that don’t belong to country life.

The topic of sexual identity is almost non-existent in country music. Baker and Torres definitely reinvent the genre, not just musically but also provide a new refreshing perspective on good ol’ country music.
