Jenna Ortega is about to land another big project! The Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress is currently in talks to join Oscar-winner Natalie Portman in the upcoming art thriller The Gallerist, Deadline reports.
The Gallerist follows a gallerist (shockingly) whose plan is to sell a corpse at Art Basel Miami. While little is known about the roles Ortega and Portman will play, the premise of the film is as grim as one would expect from a movie featuring Ortega.
The film is set to be directed by Cathy Yan, the director behind 2018’s Dead Pigs and 2020’s Birds of Prey, making it her third feature film. Before Dead Pigs, Yan directed a few short films, beginning in 2013. Most recently, she directed an episode of Succession and was also set to direct The Freshening, a sci-fi flick starring John Boyega.
Ortega is celebrating the major success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which has become the tenth highest-grossing movie of 2024, making $441 million since its premiere in September. She has two movies lined up for a 2025 release: Death of a Unicorn, a black comedy with Paul Rudd, and Klara and the Sun, a dystopian sci-fi film with Amy Adams. And let’s not forget, Wednesday Season 2 is about to start production soon.
This year, Portman has kept busy filming Fountain of Youth with John Krasinski and lending her voice to a character in The Twits, an animated comedy with Emilia Clarke, based on Roald Dahl’s novel. She also starred in the drama miniseries Lady in the Lake, which she co-produced.
