Jasmin Savoy Brown Says Her Life Mirrors 'Yellowjackets' More Than You Think

Jasmin Savoy Brown opens up about her religious past, queer identity, and finding balance through art and community.
American actress Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays Taissa Turner in Yellowjackets, recently opened up about her religious childhood and drew parallels to her character in the series.
In an interview with Nylon Magazine, she discussed her Evangelical Christian upbringing, which included intense religious practices like praying in tongues and exorcisms.
Brown also described having dual memories: one of praying for a future husband, and another of feeling queer desires — comparing it to “sleeping Taissa and waking Taissa.”
At 21, Brown came out to her mom via FaceTime, saying she had a girlfriend. The coming-out experience was initially tough, but when her cousin later married a woman, she felt like a trailblazer.
Currently, Brown is in a healthy and balanced place mentally, which she credits to therapy, psychiatry, exercise, and regularly reaching out to friends. Additionally, she’s working on new music — she has an EP and four music videos ready!
Season 3 of Yellowjackets aired its penultimate episode on April 6, with the season finale, titled Full Circle, dropping on April 13, 2025.
