Looks like Chappell Roan might be gearing up to drop her second album, and the clues are all over her Instagram. She recently posted a bunch of selfies with a cheeky Love Island reference:
“Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa.”
Naturally, fans are thinking this is more than just a TV show reference, hoping it’s a sneaky hint that new music is on the horizon. She also shared some Polaroid pics featuring her merch and casually mentioned She Gets the Job Done. Could this be the album’s title?
Behind the scenes, producer Dan Nigro has been leaking some details about the project. They’ve already finished five tracks — a country song, a couple of ballads, and a mid-tempo rock track — talk about diversity! If you’ve caught her live lately, you’ve probably heard The Subway, an unreleased song by Chappell rumored to be a part of the sophomore album.
Since dropping her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Roan’s fanbase has exploded and her rise has been remarkable — from opening for Olivia Rodrigo to breaking Lollapalooza attendance records.
Her reactions to certain aspects of sudden fame (such as flipping off a journalist or calling out her high school teacher mid-set) have recently become popular topics on social media. However, producer Dan Nigro mentioned that the album doesn’t dwell on the downsides of fame. Instead, it’s full of good vibes and energy.
A little backstory: Roan and Nigro have been collaborating since 2020. When Atlantic Records dropped her that year, Nigro didn’t skip a beat. He started Amusement Records to keep supporting her music. She sees him as a major influence who helped her find her unique voice in both performance and songwriting.
