Harris Dickinson opens up about a challenging scene with Nicole Kidman in ‘Babygirl’ on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show.’

Harris Dickinson has nothing but respect for those who shaped Hollywood over the years. This became clear after he discussed his latest film Babygirl on The Drew Barrymore Show, where he admitted there was one line he really didn’t want to say to his co-star, Nicole Kidman.

Dickinson found it incredibly hard to be disrespectful towards her, even though it was only for a scene. One scene in particular was difficult for him, when his character, Samuel, had to tell Kidman’s Romy, “I’m not interested in that, you look like a mother.”

He felt the line was so brutal that he had to tell director Halina Reijn he couldn’t say it, feeling it was “a little bit rude.” Despite his reservations, the scene made the final cut, so it seems Dickinson had to bite the bullet.

Babygirl is an erotic thriller starring Dickinson and Kidman, where Dickinson plays a young intern who becomes entangled with the company’s high-level CEO, played by Kidman, who puts her career and family on the line for the affair. Besides Dickinson and Kidman, Babygirl also features Antonio Banderas as Romy’s husband, Jacob, and Sophie Wilde as Romy’s assistant, Esme.

The movie premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, where it earned Kidman the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. It then screened at TIFF, followed by a theatrical release on Christmas Day. Most recently, Dickinson’s role in the film earned him the Virtuoso Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, an award he will collect on February 9th.
