The Glasgow Film Festival hosts special screenings of ‘Coyote Ugly’, ‘The Craft’, and ‘Muriel’s Wedding’ from March 5-7!

Besides a plethora of movie premieres at the Glasgow Film Festival, there are also Special Event screenings happening all over Glasgow. This year, a feel-good musical drama, a cult teen horror, and an Australian classic have been selected for the special screenings, taking place from March 5 to March 7.

Coyote Ugly

Coyote Ugly follows Violet, an aspiring songwriter who moves to New York to pursue her dreams, despite struggling with stage fright. To make ends meet, she takes a job at Coyote Ugly, a bar where the bartenders dance on the counter to entertain rowdy crowds. Piper Perabo stars as Violet, alongside Adam Garcia as Kevin, Maria Bello as Lil, Melanie Lynskey as Gloria, John Goodman as Bill Sanford, and more.

The American comedy-drama is celebrating 25 years since its premiere in 2000, and for the occasion, the festival’s organizers have transformed Glasgow’s Grand Ole Opry into their own Coyote Ugly bar. The screening, along with additional entertainment, will take place at the Grand Ole Opry on March 5 at 7 PM. 18+ only!

The Craft

The Craft follows Sarah, a newcomer at a Catholic high school who befriends three outcast girls practicing witchcraft. Together, they form a coven and use their powers to take revenge on bullies and improve their lives—until the magic spirals out of control. Sarah must then confront her friends and stop the chaos before it’s too late.

The Australian classic is celebrating its 30th anniversary since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and for the occasion, Cottiers Bar encourages everyone to come sing and dance to ABBA’s greatest hits. The screening takes place on March 7, with doors opening at 7 PM.
