Dylan O'Brien's 'Twinless' Pulled from Sundance Website Following Leaks on Social Media
Watching Sundance films online is getting harder—Twinless was pulled due to piracy, leaving fans frustrated with few options.
It seems that watching the films that premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival from the comfort of your home is becoming more difficult each day. Just a few days after the documentary Selena y Los Dinos, which won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Archival Storytelling, was pulled from the festival’s site, another award-winning movie was removed. This time, it’s the Dylan O’Brien comedy Twinless.
Twinless follows two young men, both of whom are missing their twins, as they form a very unlikely friendship. Director James Sweeney co-stars alongside O’Brien, joined by Aisling Franciosi, Lauren Graham, Tasha Smith, and Chris Perfetti, among others.
The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize, which ultimately went to the war satire Atropia, starring Alia Shawkat and Callum Turner. However, it won the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award, and Dylan O’Brien’s performance earned him the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting.
The reason for its removal was cited as piracy and copyright infringement. Clips from the movie kept getting leaked on Twitter and TikTok, prompting Sundance organizers to pull the film from their website. As compensation, they offered those who had purchased online tickets a voucher to watch another film. This decision angered many fans, as most of the available films were already sold out, leaving them with only a few remaining options and no possibility of a refund.
Dylan O’Brien most recently starred in the thriller Caddo Lake alongside Eliza Scanlen, portrayed Dan Aykroyd in Saturday Night, and co-starred as Vinnie alongside River Gallo in Ponyboi. He is set to appear in the upcoming thriller Anniversary alongside Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, and Zoey Deutch.
