Dylan O’Brien stars in ‘Ponyboi’, a gripping new thriller about identity, survival, and escape, now with a trailer out.
Dylan O’Brien’s 2024 thriller Ponyboi, in which he stars alongside
River Gallo and
Victoria Pedretti, finally has a trailer out following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last year.
Ponyboi follows Ponyboi (played by River Gallo), an intersex sex worker trapped in a bleak routine in New Jersey, working at a laundromat and secretly involved with his pimp, Vinny (Dylan O’Brien), who is also the father of his best friend Angel’s (Victoria Pedretti) unborn child. When a drug deal goes wrong on Valentine’s Day, Ponyboi is forced to flee, facing dangerous enemies and long-buried trauma.
The film also features Murray Bartlett as Bruce,
Indya Moore as Charlie, and Keith William Richards as Two-Tone, among others. The story is based on the 2019 short film of the same name by Gallo.
O’Brien’s latest film, the black comedy Twinless, in which he stars alongside James Sweeney—who also wrote and directed the film—premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award. He is currently filming the survival horror Send Help with
Rachel McAdams and
Chris Pang, and will also star in the upcoming thriller Anniversary with
Diane Lane,
Kyle Chandler,
Zoey Deutch, and
Mckenna Grace.
