Doechii Shuts Down Grammys Lip-Syncing Accusations

At the 2025 Grammys, Doechii wowed audiences with an intense performance of ‘Catfish’ and ‘Denial Is a River’—only to face accusations of lip-syncing soon after.
Doechii took to TikTok to shut down the rumors, insisting, “That entire performance was live!” She explained that her DJ stepped in on certain lines while she pulled off high-energy stunts, including somersaulting off dancers’ shoulders and walking up a human staircase—all while battling bronchitis and the flu.
Doechii underlined that her mic picked up the sound of her beads, proving she was singing live. Visibly frustrated, she told critics, “I don’t lip-sync. Don’t ever f—ing play with me like that. Ever!”
That same night, she claimed the Best Rap Album award and delivered an emotional speech, reflecting on her hard work and crediting her newfound sobriety for guiding her success. She also reaffirmed her faith, saying, “God told me I would be rewarded,” and closed with a message of empowerment for Black women.
