English actress English actress Aimee Lou Wood Aimee Lou Wood, who recently played Chelsea in the third season of The White Lotus, opens up about why she often plays British characters.

In an interview with On Demand, Wood explained that when she auditioned for The White Lotus, she submitted two audition tapes—one with her natural accent and one with an American accent. The show’s creator, Mike White, ultimately chose her Manchester accent over the American one.

Wood now wants to make it clear that she can do an American accent; it’s just that her own was preferred for the role. However, she added that she doesn’t “look very American,” explaining that her teeth are the reason behind it.

She then shared a story about when she starred in a play in Chicago. One of the actors later spoke to her, and upon hearing her original accent, he said he had suspected she wasn’t American—despite her perfect accent.

The first episode of the third season of The White Lotus premiered on February 16, with the following seven episodes airing weekly through April 6, 2025.
