Ncuti Gatwa Joins Olivia Colman in Modern Take on 'The War of the Roses'
Ncuti Gatwa joins Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in a star-studded, darkly hilarious remake of the classic “The War of the Roses.”
“Doctor Who” star Ncuti Gatwa has been cast in the highly anticipated remake of “The War of the Roses,” titled “The Roses,” alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Directed by Jay Roach and penned by Tony McNamara, this reimagining of the 1989 divorce dramedy features Colman and Cumberbatch as Ivy and Theo, a seemingly perfect couple whose marriage unravels into a bitter divorce.
Gatwa joins a stellar ensemble, including SNL’s Kate McKinnon, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg, GLOW’s Sunita Mani, Love Life’s Zoë Chao, Stath Lets Flats’ Jamie Demetriou, and The Great’s Belinda Bromilow. Based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel, this modern adaptation promises a darkly hilarious take on love and divorce.
Director Jay Roach praised the script and cast, saying, “With Olivia and Benedict attached, I knew it would go in a new and wonderful direction.” The release date for “The Roses” has yet to be announced
