3 Times the Ford Mustang Made Movie Magic Alongside James Bond
The Ford Mustang appeared alongside James Bond, portrayed by Sean Connery, in three movies.
The Ford Mustang and the most famous secret agent first appeared together in the movie “Goldfinger” (1964), where it was driven as a convertible by Tilly Masterson (Tania Mallet), whom James Bond (Sean Connery) pursued in his Aston Martin DB5. Bond used the Aston’s special equipment to disable Mustang. For the Mustang, it was its second appearance on the silver screen after the movie “The Troops of St. Tropez” (1964), and also served as promotion for its introduction to the American market.
“Thunderball” (1965)
A year later, the Ford Mustang reappeared in another Bond adventure, in the movie “Thunderball” (1965). Once again, the Mustang wasn’t Bond’s vehicle, but at least he was taken for a somewhat faster ride by the enemy agent Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi).
“Diamonds Are Forever” (1971)
“Ford Mustang (specifically the Mach 1 model) last appeared with James Bond in the movie “Diamonds Are Forever” (1971), where Bond and Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) escaped the police in it, with Bond driving the Mustang on two wheels.”
Although the Ford Mustang was never Bond’s personal vehicle with Q’s gadgets like the Aston Martin DB5 or Lotus Esprit, it certainly captured the attention of movie fans and prompted many to purchase it
