Ella Purnell is ready to show us her darker side! The wait is over, and the anticipated dark comedy series Sweetpea is finally here.

In Sweetpea, Ella plays a quiet wallflower, Rhiannon Lewis, a young woman who loses her father, and her old bully returns. Her life turns upside down when she snaps under the weight of her frustrations, transforming into a vengeful, hate-driven menace with a knack for taking lives.

Judging by the trailer, Rhiannon will not be messing around with the people who make her feel invisible. From the bully to a lady at a grocery store who completely ignores Rhiannon, it seems like everyone is getting a taste of what’s hiding under that innocent smile. And it’s going to be very bloody.

Sweetpea is based on a book of the same name by CJ Skuse, published in 2017. In 2020, a TV series based on the book was announced, but it took another three years before Ella Purnell was cast as Rhiannon. Besides Purnell, Nicôle Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift, Dustin Demri-Burns, and Luke McGibney were cast as well.

If you don’t have the Starz app, you can watch the show at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the US on the Starz cable channel. Following that, the remaining episodes will be released weekly during its Friday slot. UK viewers can rejoice since all eight episodes will be available to binge-watch, starting today on Sky.
