Role Model Turns Heads with His Country Cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Nothing New’

Role Model recently caught everyone’s attention with his cover of
Taylor Swift’s Nothing New feat.
Phoebe Bridgers on Triple J’s Like a Version, where he added drums and a lively country twang to the originally melancholic track. “I just wanna scream it and dance to it. So that’s why we added drums and a little bit of twang to it.” he shared.
Role Model discovered the song’s themes of fleeting fame while working on his sophomore album, Kansas Anymore, which was released in July 2024 and signaled a move from electronic pop to a ‘70s-inspired, guitar-driven style. In February 2025, he followed up with Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye), a deluxe edition featuring four extra tracks, including the TikTok sensation Sally, When The Wine Runs Out.
Currently opening for Gracie Abrams, Role Model plans to launch a North American tour soon, building on his upbeat social media presence and growing influence in the music scene.
