The rising Irish sensation Paul Mescal is set to make his debut on the next episode of Saturday Night Live!
The episode, airing on December 7, will feature the Gladiator 2 star as the host. However, he won’t be the only one making a first appearance on the show; joining him as the musical performer will be the emerging singer-songwriter Shaboozey.
The official X account announced the news shortly after the latest episode, hosted and performed by Charli XCX, aired. Following a three-week break, the show will return with these two fresh talents.
Mescal is currently riding high on the success of Gladiator 2, which was recently released in theaters worldwide. However, it wasn’t too long ago that he made his television debut—in a 2018 advertisement for sausages. That marked just the beginning for Mescal. By 2020, he was captivating audiences in the series Normal People, and now he’s working alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Ridley Scott.
Shaboozey, on the other hand, has been making music for nearly a decade. He released his debut album, Lady Wrangler, in 2018, followed by Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die in 2022. Earlier this year, he unveiled his third album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, which earned him six Grammy nominations for the upcoming 2025 ceremony.
Some fans on X speculated that Shaboozey might debut a new song during the performance, which seems plausible. Others, however, were disappointed with the choice of Paul Mescal, joking that his Gladiator 2 co-star Pedro Pascal would be a better pick. Well, you can’t please everyone, right?
