Naomi Ackie Would Love to Return to 'Star Wars'—Here’s What She Said
Naomi Ackie shares her enthusiasm about the possibility of returning to ‘Star Wars’ and reprising her role as Jannah.
The British actress Naomi Ackie, who played Jannah in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, attended the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to promote her new film Sorry, Baby. Despite promoting her new project, she was asked about Star Wars anyway—more specifically, whether she would be interested in another movie.
Speaking to ScreenRant, she enthusiastically said, “Star Wars, get it together! If I get a call, we’ll see what happens, and I’ll see if I’m free!” Seeing Ackie return as Jannah would be amazing. She could be part of the upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order film, which will star Daisy Ridley and be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
New Jedi Order with Ridley was first announced at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration, and just a few days ago, George Nolfi, the screenwriter of Ocean’s Twelve and The Bourne Ultimatum, was enlisted to write the movie.
Ackie’s latest film, Sorry, Baby, which stars Eva Victor and Lucas Hedges, just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Her next film, the sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17, which features Robert Pattinson and Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho, will premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February.
She will also appear in a small role in The Thursday Murder Club, a crime comedy with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley, coming to Netflix later this year. Ackie is currently filming I Love Boosters, a sci-fi comedy with Keke Palmer, Demi Moore, and LaKeith Stanfield.
