Julia Michaels Debuts 'GFY' on Fallon Before Epic 'Scissors' Duet with Maren Morris

Fallon got the exclusive live debut of ‘GFY,’ but Julia Michaels had more in store—the song’s official music video dropped just hours later.
Julia Michaels and
Maren Morris are proving that breakups don’t have to be all doom and gloom. The duo took The Tonight Show stage with a medley of their latest singles, GFY and Scissors.
Michaels’ Scissors, released in January, flips the breakup song trope on its head. Co-written with Morris, the track embraces a carefree approach to moving on. Morris calls it “lighthearted,” while Michaels sees it as a way to be totally unbothered. The performance followed Michaels’ solo debut of GFY, another new release. The official GFY music video dropped later that day.
This isn’t their first collaboration—last summer, they joined forces for Cut, and now Scissors follows. Just a coincidence? Maybe. But with their undeniable creative chemistry, it’s fair to wonder if there’s more to the pattern.
