Haley Lu Richardson Joins Emilia Clarke for 1970s Spy Thriller 'Ponies'
Haley Lu Richardson and Emilia Clarke team up for ‘Ponies’, a 1970s spy series about CIA agents solving a deadly mystery.
The White Lotus actress Haley Lu Richardson, who played Portia in the second season of the show, has just landed another project! She is joining Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in a new spy series, Ponies, according to Variety.
Ponies is set in Moscow in the 1970s and follows two secretaries, Bea and Twila (played by Clarke and Richardson, respectively), at the US embassy. After their husbands are killed, the two women become CIA agents, tasked with solving the case of their husbands’ deaths. Let’s just say the investigation takes them to places they never could have expected.
Richardson’s last television role was in The White Lotus in 2022. Since then, she starred in the romantic comedy Love at First Sight alongside Ben Hardy in 2023.
Currently, she is filming the sci-fi adventure flick Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die with Sam Rockwell in the lead. The film follows a time traveler who assembles a group of random people at a Los Angeles diner to fight a rogue AI. Sounds crazy, but could it work?
Beyond her acting roles, Richardson had a dream-come-true moment dancing in a Jonas Brothers music video for Wings. As a bonus, she got to meet Nick Jonas, her favorite member of the band.
Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke is preparing for the 2025 premiere of The Twits, an animated feature where she voices a character alongside Natalie Portman. The film is currently in post-production. In addition to Ponies, Clarke is also working on the crime drama series Criminal, based on the Marvel comic book of the same name.
