Emma Mackey’s upcoming drama Hot Milk premiered last month at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Bear. The film was originally set to be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on May 30, but it has now been postponed.
According to Radio Times, the new release date is set for July 4, 2025.
Hot Milk is based on Deborah Levy’s novel of the same name and follows a young woman, Sofia, who takes her sick mother to Spain in search of a cure. As she cares for her mother, she begins to explore who she really is, what she wants, and how their complicated relationship affects her life.
Besides Mackey, the movie features
Vicky Krieps as Ingrid,
Fiona Shaw as Rose,
Vincent Perez as Dr. Gomez,
Yann Gael as Matthew, and
Patsy Ferran in an undisclosed role.
Apart from Hot Milk, Mackey has another project lined up for 2025. She will star as the lead in
James L. Brooks’ comedy Ella McCay, alongside
Jamie Lee Curtis,
Woody Harrelson, and
Ayo Edebiri.
