Zoey Deutch bids farewell to her role as Emily Webb in ‘Our Town’ on Broadway as the show wraps its run in NYC.
American actress Zoey Deutch is saying goodbye to her role as Emily Webb in the Broadway play Our Town, which just had its final performance with this cast at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City.
Our Town takes place in the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. It follows the lives of the ordinary townspeople, but the main focus is the story of Emily Webb and George Gibbs—their daily lives, their marriage, love, and even death. The play highlights the fleeting nature of time and emphasizes the ordinary aspects of life.
In this revival, Zoey Deutch played Emily Webb, Katie Holmes played Mrs. Webb,
Ephraim Sykes played George Gibbs, and
Richard Thomas played Mr. Webb. The Stage Manager, who is also the narrator, was portrayed by The Big Bang Theory star
Jim Parsons.
Our Town has been such a success that it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This production began on September 17 last year and closed on January 19.
Besides her theatre work, Zoey Deutch currently has three movies in post-production: Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, the thriller Anniversary with
Diane Lane and
Kyle Chandler, and the romantic comedy The Threesome with
Ruby Cruz and Jonah
Hauer-King.
