From Local Gems to Global Stars? Here’s Why You Can’t Miss Vancouver Fashion Week

This time, spectators could witness what promising fashion designers from British Columbia have to offer in terms of higher fashion. And let’s be fair, the collections weren’t far from renowed haute couture brands when it came to the wow-effect.

A brand that specifically caught Combster’s eye and was a great success with the fashionistas in the front rows, too, was an emerging designer talent Poppy Wang, who made her debut at the VFW. Check out her collection to see it for yourself.

One specific look from her presentation that caused major buzz was a stunning wedding dress designed with a short sleeve Chinese-inspired corset top embellished with floral details on the bottom and a full length voluminous ruched skirt, closing the whole show.

Students from The Cut Design Academy, a fashion and design school in Vancouver, in turn presented their SS25 looks during a show called Waves. Another rising fashion label, Narvan, offered a mixture of ready-to-wear and haute couture pieces that could honestly compete with designs presented at The Big Four.

Stay tuned to see what designers of VFW will serve us tomorrow!
