With the highly anticipated Vancouver Fashion Week starting today, we are bringing you all the details about the event and why you can’t miss it anymore.

• Introducing Vancouver Fashion Week

Held twice a year in British Columbia, Canada, and with its 23-year-long history, Vancouver Fashion Week has set itself to be the second largest fashion in North America.

Founded in 2001 by Jamal Abdourahman, the event has steadily grown into a significant stage for both emerging and established designers. And now, VFW serves as a platform for these local and international talents who can’t present their works at the Big Four.

But apart from up-and-coming fashion talents, haute couture craftsmanship and avant-garde creations also share the runway at VFW.

• Mission of Inclusion and Diversity

An interesting fact that stands out about VFW is its commitment to showcasing diversity. The event proudly highlights models of all skin tones, genders, sizes, and heights, reinforcing its dedication to inclusivity.

• Awarding Emerging Designers

Since 2014, VFW has awarded the Nancy Mak Award to promising British Columbia-based designers. Every year, this scholarship is given to one emerging talent with a strong creative vision and aims to provide resources to help them elevate their brands.

The award carries the name of a strong supporter of Vancouver Fashion Week and also an active member of the fashion industry during her life.

Last year, the award was received by a promising Vancouver-based designer Eduardo Ramos.

Currently, VFW is noted for being the fastest-growing fashion week globally. It continues to foster and provide the next generation of fashion designers with essential opportunities for exposure and commerce.
