Sophie Thatcher is showing us her musical side! Her debut EP Pivot & Scrape is now available on streaming platforms.
It’s hard to define the exact genre of Sophie’s music, but it’s safe to say it falls within the alternative sphere. The 5-track EP showcases Sophie’s versatility and conveys the melancholy present in her drawings and paintings, translating it into a sonic experience.
Prior to the release of Pivot & Scrape, Sophie released two singles from the EP—Black and Blue and the title track, Pivot & Scrape. Both tracks carry heavy emotional and existential weight, with Sophie reflecting on feelings of detachment, numbness, pain, and weakness. The inner battle, the turmoil, and the longing for meaning amidst chaos are evident both in the lyrics and the atmosphere of the entire EP.
The soft ballad Pivot & Scrape already has a music video, released last month, and it’s exactly what you would expect: black & white, devastating, and beautiful. And we want more.
Sophie has always had a close relationship with music, and while that’s nothing new, what you might not know is that she met her boyfriend thanks to her favorite band, Pavement!
