Imagine the oddest place to take an interview – this is exactly what comedian and media entrepreneur Kareem Rahma did with his sensational The Subway Takes.

Kareem Rahma, co-founder of the media company Nameless Network and former Growth Editor at The New York Times, has taken the internet by storm with his web series The Subway Takes. The whole interview concept is about asking New Yorkers, “So, what’s your take?” where they come up with the most ridiculous, funny, crazy, and at times very witty statements on just about anything.

What began as a side project that Kareem didn’t even hold in high regard quickly became a hit on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where short-format videos dominate at the moment. The subway commuters can say anything from, “It’s more fun to hook up with your friends than strangers,” to “Jack Harlow should be able to say the N-word.” It’s incredibly unpredictable, spicy, and debatable.

Rahma’s comedic versatility allows him to pick up on those crazy statements and provoke thoughtful conversation in a very lighthearted way. But most importantly, Kareem has to give his response: “100% agree” or “100% disagree.” Some of the show’s guests are beyond happy when he agrees with them, while others continue with their opposing view.

Besides comedy, filmmaking, writing, and media business, Kareem is actually a very decent rock musician with over 10 singles under his belt.

The magic of The Subway Takes lies in its reflection of New York’s diversity, bringing out raw, unscripted moments from everyday commuters. However, it’s not only regular folks who show up. Recently, many rising and prominent stars have appeared on the show, such as Olivia Wilde and Alexa Chung.
