Olivia Cooke Takes Over Maika Monroe’s Role in Chloe Okuno’s 'Brides'

Olivia Cooke will lead Chloe Okuno’s upcoming thriller ‘Brides’, a Neon release set in a remote Italian villa.

According to Deadline, the film will be distributed theatrically by Neon and produced by Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu under Likely Story.

Cooke plays Sally Bishop, a woman who travels with her husband to a remote villa in Italy, where the villa’s mysterious owner—a count—develops a strange interest in her. The role was originally set for Maika Monroe, who left due to scheduling conflicts with her Universal film Reminders of Him.

Chloe Okuno is best known for Watcher, which premiered at Sundance in 2022. Her previous work includes the horror short Slut, a segment in V/H/S/94, and episodes of Let the Right One In and Teacup. Her style leans into suspense and psychological tension, and Brides is expected to continue that focus.

Cooke has appeared in Ready Player One, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, and HBO’s House of the Dragon. She recently wrapped filming on Amazon’s The Girlfriend alongside Robin Wright. As of now, no additional cast members have been announced for Brides.
