Pop and folk singer Myles Smith has been named BBC Introducing’s award ‘on path to stardom’ for 2024, marking a huge step in his career. The 26-year-old Luton native, best known for his hit Stargazing, has reached over a billion streams worldwide and averages 23.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Smith has been part of the BBC Introducing family since 2017, uploading songs like Wait For You and Whisper, many of which have been played on the platform. Reflecting on his journey, he said:
“BBC Introducing is more than just this small family. It’s a real culture that changes lives. Going from uploading tracks to winning this award and now touring the world shows its impact.”
2024 has been a standout year for Smith. In May, he performed at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on the BBC Introducing stage, and he recently wrapped up a North American tour, playing both small venues and arenas. Next year, he’s set to headline his own UK and European tour and will also join Ed Sheeran on the road.
Smith’s latest EP, A Minute, dropped earlier this month, adding to a growing catalog of music that fans can’t get enough of. For Smith, the journey isn’t just about his own success: “I’m sure there’ll be many more artists coming through with the same support I’ve had, going on to do great things.”
