James Gunn shares the first set photo from ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ starring Milly Alcock as the lead superhero!

Filming for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, with Milly Alcock as the lead superhero, has recently begun, and the new head of DC Studios, James Gunn, has shared the first photo of Milly from the set!

Gunn took to X to share his excitement that the cameras have finally started rolling. In the picture he posted, we can see Milly Alcock sitting in her chair with the Supergirl logo on it, accompanied by a caption that praises both Alcock and the director, Craig Gillespie.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow offers a completely different, grittier look at Supergirl than what we know. The movie follows Kara Zor-El, who begins traveling the galaxy with her dog, Krypto, on her 21st birthday. During her travels, she meets a young girl named Ruthye and embarks on a bloody revenge quest.

Joining Alcock in this superhero flick are Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s mother. It has also been confirmed that Jason Momoa will make a cameo as the alien mercenary and bounty hunter Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release on June 26, 2026, and will be part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. This chapter will also include the films Clayface, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing, all of which are currently in development.
