Josh O’Connor’s new drama ‘Rebuilding’ premiered at Sundance, with Lily LaTorre making headlines for her DIY dress.

Josh O’Connor’s latest drama Rebuilding just premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to long applause from the audience. And it’s not only O’Connor making headlines—it’s also his on-screen daughter, Lily LaTorre, who attended the premiere wearing a dress she made herself with her grandmother. Talking to EW at the premiere, she described the whole process:

“So, me and my gran, one day I just decided that I wanted to draw up a dress. I drew it, and then I asked my gran, because my gran’s really good at sewing, and she made her wedding dress. […] So, I drew up the idea, and it took two weeks, I think. We made the dress and sewed it all together. It was quite fun.”

Rebuilding follows a cowboy named Dusty, whose ranch burns down in wildfires as he attempts to piece his life together again. He ends up in a FEMA camp, where he meets others who have faced similar fates, along with his daughter Callie and his ex-wife.

Besides O’Connor and LaTorre, the film stars Meghann Fahy as Ruby, Kali Reis as Mali, and Amy Madigan as Bess, among others. Max Walker-Silverman served as both writer and director and, with the film, reflected on his own personal experience when his grandmother’s house burned in a fire.
