Jack Quaid reveals he refused to film a certain violent scene in ‘Companion,’ fearing injury, despite his experience on ‘The Boys.’

Jack Quaid’s upcoming horror film Companion, in which he stars alongside Sophie Thatcher, is right around the corner with a release date of January 31. Recently, Quaid spoke to Metro about how he actually refused to do one of the violent scenes.

The scene in question is the one where his hand gets caught in a car door. He said he was so terrified to do it that he had to use a stunt double for the scene. The scene can already be seen in the trailer released earlier this month.

He also shared that there was a safety mechanism ensuring the door would never actually close, but the thought of something failing and his hand getting crushed terrified him to his core.

Quaid is no stranger to violent scenes, since he stars in The Boys, but because the show is so “hyper-violent,” it hasn’t desensitized him as much. Seeing something this “real” sent shivers down his spine.

Companion follows a group of friends on a weekend getaway at a remote cabin. Everything is fine until it’s revealed that one of the guests is a companion robot—AKA a sex bot. Things get out of hand, and it becomes bloody and messy.

Sophie Thatcher stars as Iris, the companion bot, and Quaid stars as Josh, the man who brought her there. Lukas Gage stars as Patrick, Megan Suri as Kat, Harvey Guillén as Eli, and Rupert Friend as Sergey.
