Jack Quaid voiced Superman in My Adventures with Superman but once auditioned for the live-action role—could he still play him?

Jack Quaid has already tried his hand at portraying Superman, but only in a voice role in the animated series My Adventures with Superman. And even though the DC Universe has already found its Clark Kent in David Corenswet, there is still some discussion about Quaid as a potential future candidate for the role.

Quaid can’t say he didn’t try, since he auditioned to play the live-action Superman. Talking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Quaid said he sent in his audition tape, but it “went nowhere.” He then added that he actually knows David Corenswet—they once filmed a pilot episode for a TV show that was never released. And when they talked, Quaid told Corenswet that when they would be looking for another Superman, it would surely be him.

In My Adventures with Superman, Quaid brings something fresh to his portrayal of the Man of Steel. His version isn’t so dark, and his performance emphasizes the cheeriness and hope that Superman is meant to represent. And even though it’s just a voice role, Quaid is doing a hell of a job.

With David Corenswet now carrying the Superman torch, it’s unclear how long he will hold onto it. With a release date set for July 11, 2025, we will find out in a few months how well Corenswet does in his superhero debut.

As for Quaid, he could offer a fresh and quirky take on the beloved superhero, which would be more than welcome. However, he admits that right now, he doesn’t physically fit the build. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t make it work if he had to, right?
