Griff Drops Fan-Favorite 'Last Night's Mascara' After Viral Hype
From an onstage experiment to a fan-demanded single, Griff’s ‘Last Night’s Mascara’ captures post-party feels like never before.
Griff finally dropped the fan-favorite song Last Night’s Mascara. This track follows her dreamy cover of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and is currently broadcast as part of Target’s 2024 Happier Holidays campaign.
Her debut album Vertigo takes listeners on a coming-of-age journey, exploring themes like melancholy, confusion, euphoria, and self-discovery. Griff’s 360-degree artistry shines through in production, fashion, and design, all tied together in a way that’s low-key genius.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Griff explained that Last Night’s Mascara is “a metaphor for all of your anxieties and worries.” The song captures the emotional lull between a wild night out and the morning after.
Last Night’s Mascara has been building hype since Griff performed it live during her Vertigo headline tour and while supporting Sabrina Carpenter on the Short 'n Sweet Tour. Interestingly, the track was supposedly shelved and only released due to popular fan demand.
She first tested the song on stage, and the crowd went wild. “It was all just a bit of an experiment,” Griff told Rolling Stone. Clips of her performances went viral on TikTok, with fans begging for its release, which gave Griff the courage. “It’s a nice bit of power going back to the relationship between me and my fans,” she explained.
